Browallia americana ~ Blue Browallia or Bush Violet also called Jamaican Forget-me-not, Sapphire Flower or Amethyst Flower

Annual Blue Browallia, originally from South America, is a faithful reseeder in the WinterSown Gardens. I never know where it's going to pop up but am always happy to see it return each year. It's sky-blue half-inch wide flowers are held on bushy plants that can grow to two feet high and just as wide. It grows well in part shade and moist soil, in full sun and drier soils it looks straggly and can sprawl out flat and open. Brue Browallia does well in container gardens or planters for patios in dappled shade, it is pretty just under the edge of rhododendrons, or plant in herbaceous shrub gardens. Increase by seed.
