Annual herb Dill is a delicious and common seasoning for pickles, fish, poultry and vegetable dishes. It's tall growing feathery foliage--to five feet--and soft yellow flowers are attractive to butterflies and bees. Dill, originally from Asia, has escaped garden cultivation and can now be seen growing and flowering in July and August along roadsides across America. Cut back hard for rebloom or yank after flowering as the plant becomes ratty by Summer's end. Dill prefers full sun and moist, loamy soil. Stake in windy areas. Increase by seed, there are only a few cultivars available in catalogues.
